This site is a tribute to Alex English, musician, boat fanatic, much loved son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. His humour, sense of fun, warmth and kindness were legendary and he is loved by so many of us.
Please use this site to share your memories of Alex with his family and friends and add any photos you have to the gallery.
We are also using this site to fundraise for Salivary Gland Cancer UK in Alex’s memory. This charity supports research into rare forms of cancer including high grade acinic cell carcinoma, which is what Alex had.
Alex requested to be privately cremated and his ashes scattered near water in three special places to him: Hebden Bridge, Durham and Cumbria. There won’t be a formal funeral but instead we will have a memorial gathering in each of these locations to celebrate his life.
The Hebden Bridge event will be on Friday 7 February - you can find details on this page. We will share details of the Cockermouth and Durham events on here when we have them. The time we visited Hebden Bridge when we were young and you took us for a ride on the canal boat, it was really fun and we were very impressed!
